Job Description Summary:

Chemic Engineers is currently seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to provide design solutions for our clients within the petrochemical, refinery, and oil and gas industries.  You must exhibit a professional attitude, innovative ideas, analytical problem solving and a willingness to collaborate while having the ability to work independently.  In this role, you will be responsible for planning, technical execution and progress reporting on assigned civil and or structural projects.  Your work may also include conceptual studies, design calculations & checking construction drawings, and preparing projects specs and material requisitions.  You will have the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the most experienced engineers in the petrochemical, energy, and oil and gas markets.  Chemic is known for the ability to mentor and provide maximum exposure to a variety of engineering applications, which result in career growth.  All of this is accomplished within a personal and family like culture in which you are not just another employee.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Capable to lead a civil/structural project team
  • Perform conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, design calculations, specification development and construction documents
  • Provides basic design of civil and structural components necessary for the development of a project
  • Responsible for planning and technical execution of major design projects
  • Will assume responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity and budget control on a project
  • To perform structural steel design for Industrial Structures, Process Structures, Rail and Truck Loading Structures, Pipe and Cable Tray Racks, Platform Steel design etc.
  • To perform reinforced concrete design for Equipment Foundations, Concrete Structures, Containment Systems, Plant Buildings,
    Retaining Walls etc.
  • Structural Engineer shall have ability of understanding, interpreting and correctly applying national codes and standards such as IBC, ASCE-7, ACI, AISC, OSHA and ASTM
  • Meet with new project client and prepare estimates and proposals

 

Education/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 8 plus years of experience in supporting industrial structures, foundations, process equipment access platforms and walkways, as well as general site work including drainage studies
  • Strong working knowledge of design codes such as AISC, ACI, IBC, NFPA and ASCE required
  • PE in Texas is a plus
  • Should be proficient in using STAAD Pro and STAAD Foundation Advanced and have experience using AutoCAD & Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong communication skills and interface skills with clients and project team members
  • Ability to multi-task, and a willingness to quickly change work assignments
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-discipline team environment
  • Willing to work extra hours as needed

 

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Travel outside the office required to client sites with office work. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb (at least one flight stairs) and sit for extended periods of time. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer screen; extensive reading.
